No bridge, no worries! That was the attitude of many resourceful West Coasters last month while our new bridge was being built. Thanks to the hard work of the NZ Army, NZTA and many more, the bridge re-opened in time for the Easter Holidays! We are also extremely grateful to the tour buses and visitors that made the effort to visit our town regardless of the bridge closure. This helped keep our kayak guides working, and kept the town alive in a tough time!
The Australia and New Zealand School Holidays have just finished, and they were very busy this season! We always love to paddle with some fellow Kiwi and Australian families during these times! The weather was spectacular, and the lake was as calm as it gets making for epic pictures and lots of memories made!
We also have an exciting announcement! Just before the storm struck us, we were celebrating our small company’s new Qualmark Silver Achievement. It’s something we’ve been towards for a while and we will strive to continually meet and exceed the standards of customer service, safety and sustainability. This award is now displayed proudly on the walls of our office and homepage, as well on the Glacier Country Lake Tour’s website (as they’ve just received it too!).
We have had an awesome summer season here at Franz Josef Tours! Now the season has drawn to an end and we say goodbye to our last 2018/19 Summer guide Jo. However we are excited to welcome Jake to the team! Jake is an experienced British kayak guide and he’s just finished a season guiding in the Abel Tasman. A huge Thank-you to everyone that worked for us this season, you’ll be truly missed. This season has been a great one filled with many laughs and new friendships. We want to wish you all the best with your future adventures!
