The South Westland Coastal Cleanup volunteers along with DOC have been working tirelessly to clean up the Fox River after thousands of tonnes of rubbish was washed from an old landfill into during a storm in March. The volunteers have done a relentless job so far, but we need more help! We’re all pleased to hear that the New Zealand Defense force is sending in support to get the job done!
Do you have some free time to volunteer? Signing up is easy and can be done on DOC’s website; https://www.doc.govt.nz/news/media-releases/2019/power-of-people-recognised-in-operation-tidy-fox/ Food and accommodation are both provided, and it’s an opportunity to check out a beautiful remote part of New Zealand!
The July School Holidays are upon us! We love getting families and children out on Lake Mapourika. We often get asked if kids can come, and the answer is YES! Our youngest adventurer to date was 8 months old! We do recommend booking our morning trip times as this is when the lake is at it’s calmest time of day, particularly for the youngest kids.
This week we welcomed Howie, our new Lead Guide & Operations Manager to the team! Howie is originally from the UK and has been working in Canada. You will often see Howie working in our office as well as kicking it back on the lake with the crew, so be sure to say HI!
