Spring is now upon us here in Franz Josef Glacier, with the typical spring weather taking a hold. Water restrictions have now been lifted as we brace ourselves for some wet weather! The freezing level dropped pretty low earlier this week, leaving the Franz Josef Glacier nicely dusted with some much needed fresh snow!
We’ve had some keen all-weather paddler out on the lake this week too – it’s been a blast!
Fun groups and good times had all around this week! Starting out with a great group of young, fit, Kiwi Experience passengers! Lots of single kayaks and a couple of stable doubles charged out across the lake me on Monday. Didn’t get it on camera, but we even had a brave client practice a successful T-rescue after the trip! Not quite warm enough for swimming yet if you ask me….
There’s still fun to be had on the West Coast, even when the sun isn’t shining. Misty moody clouds sweep over the tallest peaks. The vibrant rainforest really stands out against this moody backdrop. Our kayaks (and our splash jackets) look amazing in the awesome photos that you get to take home – free! – after your trip.
