We’re excited to announce that we’ll be running scenic lake cruises, and fishing charters this summer on the beautiful Lake Mapourika.   All aboard the Hannah-K …  coming soon, please read on to find out more!

The Hannah-K is a beauty, she’s been custom built for the West Coast with a fully enclosed seating area and both covered and uncovered viewing platforms.  The boat can seat a comfortable 18 people, but will be run with any groups big or small!

The front viewing platform allows you to get up close and personal with some of New Zealand’s native birdlife, and lush temperate rainforest that surround the Lake.  Below is a shot taken from the boat of the Kereru (NZ’s wood pigeon) and also of a giant Kahikatea tree which is our favorite secret spot on the lake …!

The boat comes with a concession for Lake Tours and Lake Fishing.  We’re excited to explore both aspects of this market.  We’re fully stocked with cups of tea, coffee and cold beverages!  In the summer time, we can place a BBQ at the front have a good old fashioned kiwi BBQ amidst the beautiful reflective water and rainforest of Lake Mapourika and the Okarito Kiwi Sanctuary.

In the summer months, we’ll be operating from sunrise to sunset out of our already bustling Kayak Booking Office in Franz Josef Glacier township (right across the road from the Glacier Base).  Courtesy transport will be offered from town to the lake and back.

The tour is suitable for all ages, and can be booked out privately or as part of one of our scheduled tours!
