What a weekend! The Easter weekend this season has been a mix of rain and sunshine.  Friday and Saturday we experienced a bit of drizzle associated with Cyclone Cook up north, but Sunday and Monday have been epic and sunny with lots of full trips and some absolutely stunning lake conditions.  Yesterday we said good bye to two more guides from our team, but what a better send off than weather like this?

Easter Sunday … what can we say?  Maybe some of the best lake conditions we’ve seen all season.  Was that afternoon trip calmer than the morning?  We couldn’t quite decide, but either way we’ll take it!  Here’s some of the photos from the afternoons group photo (and awkward kayak games session pics):

The morning was a busy one with a Kayak & Walk, a Kayak Classic and a Kayak Discovery all heading out for some of Lake Mapourika’s morning magic.  Lucky for this family of 3 that the weather was fine for their Discovery tour.  This trip was their sons first ever Kayak experience…  8 month’s old and loving it:

Then we said had to say some more farewells to a couple of key staff members from this summer!

The first off was Jose, who has just finished his second season guiding with us.  Jose holds a special spot on the team (and in our hearts!), as he was part of our first ever crew of guides in 2013!  We were thrilled to have him back again and wish him all the best in the future!

Next off was Izzy who was part of our operations crew.  Izzy is one efficient lady!  Always making sure we get through the busy days on top.  We will never feel as organised as when she was around, and she’s a pretty awesome guide as well!  Izzy’s off home to Germany to finish her thesis and we wish the best of luck over there …hoping also to see her back in NZ someday!
