Let me run you through a Heli-hike and Kayak Combo in Franz Josef Glacier …

8:45 a.m:  Meet Franz Josef Tours at the office on Cron St.  

Here’s where you meet our friendly reservations crew for a run down on your day’s activities.  Grab a town map and some tips before jumping into the kayak van and heading out to the beautiful Lake Mapourika.  You’re in for a treat as Lake Mapourika is best enjoyed in the mornings for it’s stunning mirror reflections!

After you return from your kayak trip, you will have time to have lunch and head over to the Helicopter Line located only a short 5 minute walk from the Kayak Office.

At the Helicopter Line you will meet your Glacier Guide and get dressed and ready for your epic ice adventure!  No experience required and they provide all you need … 

Enjoy a short Scenic Flight over the Franz Josef Glaciers 3 ice falls before landing on an icy helipad.  Here your guide will assist you with your crampons … before taking you on a 2 hour walk on the Glacier.

As you fly off the ice, gazing out at the Tasman sea … you can look forward to the tasty meal ahead of you at the Landing Bar and Restaurant.
