Our Kayak and walk tour takes you across Lake Mapourika via kayak to our purpose built trail on the far side in the heart of the Okarito Kiwi Sanctuary. Here you will change up your paddle for your hiking shoes and prepare to follow your guide on an interpretative tour through some of New Zealand’s Oldest untouched Rainforests.

Enjoy Fantails and Tomtits fluttering around you picking up insects you disturb as you walk through and keep your eyes up in the tree tops will listening for the whoop whoop of the Wood pigeons wings and the song of Tui and Bell birds.

The trail eventually brings you out at the “Flax Cafe” where your guide will prepare you a hot drink, tell our stories of Kiwi and other birds and even give you the chance to cool off with a swim on a hot day. We encourage you to bring along a snack or lunch as this is an amazing place to hang out, relax and soak in nature at its best!
