It’s an exciting time on Franz Josef’s Lake Mapourika … the 2017/18 Salmon Fishing Season has begun! We’re starting out the season by catching lots our locked lake salmon! These fish are getting to be a decent size and they look in great conidition:
These lake locked salmon keep the rods busy until the larger sea run salmon make their journey up the Okarito river and into the lake in a few months time. Here’s a couple snaps from last seasons first Sea Run salmon caught on a wet afternoon, and put straight on the BBQ!
We’re also still catching brown trout. Spring is a great time of year to be fishing on Lake Mapourika!
