The annual South Westland fishing competition run by the local Lions Club was run over the weekend, there was a huge turn out with over 50 boats out trolling, fly fishing, harling and casting their way around they lake! 

Saturday morning dawned clear making for some beautiful fishing conditions and several good salmon caught early on (unfortunately not by me!)

Despite a slight mist of rain early Sunday morning the weather was fantastic and the Lake calm for the whole event and the rain was unable to dampen any spirits.

I solid effort was put in by all competitors and there were definitely fish around espeacily in this spot X.

I would like to thank all of the organizers and sponsors for making this event possible year inand year out including the very generous 1st place prize of $1000 donated by Kathy and Ian at Franz Hire, without support like this these events would not be anywhere near as exciting or successful,
