As the salmon season season is nearing to an end (31st of March), we thought we’d do a quick recap of our 2015/16 Salmon Season on Lake Mapourika, and show you some pics from a couple of Charters!  Good sized salmon were caught really early on this year, and are still continuing to run into the Lake now.

If you’re looking to book a charter after the 31st of March – our Trout season runs all year around!  So we’ll be out there fishing for Trout from April onwards.

Here’s a brown trout that we hooked (on a salmon line!) this season.  It’s not a huge fish, but a healthy looking trout.  Trout can be caught up to 8 pound in the Lake …

The fellow below was over from Australia and had been trying to catch a salmon for 3 weeks straight.  He caught this with us on one of his last days in the country!  Needless to say he was pretty happy:

A keen fishermen from the Czeck Republic was working at a local backpackers in town this season, and belonged to a fishing club back home.  He came out on a Charter to catch a salmon, and send a photo back home to his club.  Here’s the happy couple with their big catch:

And of course we love taking people out for their first time fishing!  Here’s a family from China that came out to just go fishing!  And you know what they say about beginners luck…  They caught TWO!
